Wine Tasting in Amador County
Welp. We did it again. We placed another must-see wine region on our Must-See Wine Region list. On a weekend visit up to Sacramento, our friends took us out for a little wine tasting in Amador County. The area used to exclusively grow Zinfandel, but these days they're an equal housing lender to a pretty long list of grape varietals including some Italian, French, and Portuguese. All in our backyard. Northern California just gets better and better.
First up was Turley and its high-priced Zinfandel tasting. We put in a game of bocce ball and might have taste tested an unharvested grape or two. Bitter with mega potential, was the verdict.

More French influences over here. Karmère, after their mother, named their vineyards after the women in their family. Girl power. The views here were incredible. I loved how much whimsy they incorporated into the landscape. As you can see, we were at the playful stage of our wine tasting adventure.

Renwood was a nice relaxing one to end on since no one else was there and we had the comfy chairs allllll to ourselves. Though, I imagine it wouldn't be as much fun while you're waiting for a seat and the wine drinkers aren't in much of a hurry to share their prime realty chairs. Renwood was the most Napa-esque as it was the most commercial. We closed our eyes and picked one of the many drool-worthy spreads to nibble on. They had everything you could want. Throw me a blanket for the night's chill and I could have stayed here forever.
