Sunday Funday at Place Flagey Market
You know how when you move to a new neighborhood, you get all excited about the possibilities that said new neighborhood brings? You take a walk or drive by and things easily turn into, 'Ooo! That will be our boucherie and that will be our flower market!' The closest cute pub (with chairs) will be 'where we default to with friends on Friday nights!' I'm a serial overexciter; I don't hide it well. I love experiencing what different cultures bring to life in their daily scene. We lucked out with our flat and chose it 1. because it's very 'us' and 2. we had marked the commune as the place to be. It very much has the feel of a city with a much more local vibe, sans the touristy feel. In fact, you'd probably not put it on your list to visit in Brussels unless you asked a local who knows what's up. Well, little did we know how great of a place to be it is, at the time, but we haven't been very good at taking advantage of that fact. In particular, the champagne + oysters that take place at the Place Flagey market every Sunday. Good grief! A year and almost a half it took us to make this happen. But happen it did. Champs turned into Devs and Devs had a hardcore rugby match on with singing and chanting and it was all very 'my top list of why I love living in Europe'.
