Pinot + Pork Milanese Pairing
You may remember during our ramblings of how we were in love with Anderson Valley that we lightly hinted that there may be a recipe in store... Well yes, yes there is. We picked up a bottle of Lula Cellars' Mendocino Pinot Noir while we were visiting, and have been saving it until we found some time to cook up one of the recipe pairings that they've set up for their visitors. Jeff of Lula (named for his maternal grandmother, Lula) is just a great host. There's not really another way to put it. We've gotten this idea of winemakers of being fairly pretentious, too busy to bother with casual visitors from our time in Napa and Sonoma but had a completely different experience up in Anderson Valley (Jeff's business card identifies him as Lula's 'Grand Fromage'). Bringing us on a tour of their new grounds and tasting room filled us with excitement to feel like we were getting in on Lula on the ground floor. So, as we mentioned we picked up a bottle of Lula Cellars' Pinot Noir and have been patiently waiting to enjoy it until we could cook up the Pork Milanese recipe, and it was worth it. "The wine is loaded with cranberry and black cherry. The nose shows rose petals and coriander. The finished wine is elegant, with profound structure. The new French oak is perfectly integrated" as Jeff puts it. We'd like to add that it's also mighty tasty. We joined the wine club immediately after polishing it off. And the pairing recipe, well that's something that we're definitely going to be having again too.If you post photos of your work in progress, your masterpiece, or anything in between, I’d love to give it some love.
