Brewery Timmermans + Keep on Toasting
What's better than an evening at a brewery tour? An evening at a brewery tour with complimentary gourmet croques, that's what. Add some sweet company and you've got yourself our last Saturday night. We were invited to partake in a tour and subsequent mingling at Brewery Timmermans with Jean-Baptiste Nyssen from Keep on Toasting serving up his ever-tasty croques. The menu was paired as the perfect accompaniment to the brewery's Finest Beer Selection range.Timmermans began brewing its Gueze Lambic in 1702, making it the oldest lambic brewery in Belgium and one of only six remaining in the world. Lambic, meaning spontaneous fermentation, or using only the wild yeasts and bacteria in the air. In 1993, the brewery joined the team of Anthony Martin under the Finest Beer Selection. We were treated to a tour by the cutest little man, who immediately stole my heart. (I have a soft spot for older people.) He was so lively and couldn't hear any of our questions, which only made me love him more. My, oh my. It was delicious. Justin had double servings of every flavor of croque (which was kind of my fault because, even though I was full, I kept 'tasting' his because they were just sooo good!). It made it all the better having great company - friends from whyiamnotskinny (who left way too early ma'am!), On (Glorious) Food and Wine, CheeseWeb and (who we've been so excited to finally meet!) S Marks The Spots. It got us pumped for the upcoming Brussels blogger meet-up next month (if you're in the area, bloggers - check it out!)Thank you, thank you to Martins, Brewery Timmermans, and Keep on Toasting for the very kind invitation to this private event.
