7 Things to do in Los AngelesLA blew us out of the water with sunny vibes and color inspiration everywhere. We didn't have a strict schedule, so we let the lack of traffic in any one direction guide us to the next spot. It was only two days, but we covered quite a bit of mileage and genres.  I've put together a loose itinerary of things to do in Los Angeles for your next weekend in the city!

1 | Cruise Sunset BoulevardFrom palm trees to patios, it's all along the winding road that is Sunset Boulevard - including the quintessential LA hot spot, Sunset Strip, that takes you between Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Sunset Boulevard winds much further through gorgeous neighborhoods that will have you dreaming about your life in sunny California.7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Temporary Exhibits7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Cruise Sunset Boulevard2 | Stroll along Venice BeachThe characters here will liven up any story. We could have sat here all day people watching in amazement at all of the activity. Spontaneous roller-blading dance party? Check. A little shopping, a little dancing, a little beachin'..totally beachin'.7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Stroll along Venice Beach7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Stroll along Venice Beach3 | Eat brunch in Silver LakeChilaquiles!! We didn't know what we were missing, but LA delivered the delicious brunch food to us in Silver Lake. You guys. It's nachos in breakfast form. Plus it's crazy fun to say. "Chilaquiles, chilaquiles, chilaquiles!!!" (That's a quote from the waitress, not just us that think it's a cool name.)

LACMA, The Getty, MOCA.. there's always time for a little culture. But, make it a little more exclusive, visit the temporary exhibits. While we were there, we found the delightfully simple Bates Motel by Vincent Lamouroux - just paint it white (lime wash to make sure we're environmentally sound). Pretty incredible sight.7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Temporary Art Exhibits7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Temporary art exhibits5 | Scope out mural walls to photographOr doors or alleyways or just any grouping of palms that is rockin' it in the photo background department. LA is so filled with bright, boisterous color that I was on inspiration overload. My Instagram feed never knew what hit it. Downtown hosts many a wall mural or, of course, there's always the iconic pink wall at the Paul Smith store on Melrose Ave. Get there before/after closing hours so that you aren't battling cars in the parking lot.7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Scope out mural walls7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Scope out mural walls to photograph7 Things to do in Los Angeles // A few favorite spots for photos!6 | Take in the view at Griffith ObservatoryIt is a trek to get to the top on a weekend, but the views are certainly worth it. Go on a clear day so that you have the best vantage point to see the Pacific Ocean, Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles. Plus, it's free to park and visit (there's also a public bus from the Vermont/Sunset Metro station). 7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Take in the view at Griffith Observatory7 Things to do in Los Angeles // The Hollywood sign from this vantage point7 | Visit Catalina IslandOur trip to Catalina Island was a last minute decision that I can't believe we almost missed! A round trip ticket is just $75 for a little slice of paradise. You can spend a leisurely day strolling the sites along the water or lounging on Descanso Beach. Or you could get adventurous and book excursions through the island.7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Visit Catalina Island7 Things to do in Los Angeles // Visit Catalina Island
